Works with the (CLIENT) organization, (CLIENT) management and (CLIENT) partners (as appropriate) to provide end-to-end management of an assigned project (or projects).
Participates in and signs off on the definition and agreement with the (CLIENT) of the scope, deliverables, cost, timescales, project organization structure and reporting of projects. The (CLIENT) maybe an external organization to (CLIENT), or internal staff or groups within (CLIENT) and its subsidiary companies
Ensures projects continue to achieve the customer’s business objectives.
Manages projects or groups of projects to achieve the contracted targets
Scope of the Role:
The Project Manager must be adaptable to the different types of role in which they may find themselves. For example:
Full end to end management for the delivery of a project or group of projects across multi-disciplined teams comprised of (CLIENT), 3rd party and staff;
Projects of a small size, i.e., 20 or less staff approximately
Sub project management responsibility for the delivery of tasks within a larger project (when the project manager may be reporting to a Project or Program Director).
Managing a team of staff providing advice and guidance on the direction, implementation, customization and use of the (CLIENT) solution set as part of a (CLIENT) managed project
The type of project will vary, for example between:
An initial implementation of any solution / system within the (CLIENT) suite of solutions or delivery of the complete suite of services;
Migration of systems from an old to a newer release;
An incremental function and/or product release for existing implementations;
An internal to (CLIENT) project
The role will be primarily focused on:
Building/maintaining strong relationships with the (CLIENT) (management and team);
Project management of projects and tasks assigned to (CLIENT);
Managing the effective deployment of assigned resources and services
Maintain effective internal & external communication
Role/Key Responsibilities:
Support the Account Manager and the sales process, providing input to the scope, approach, organizational structure and planning of a potential project.
Ensure that no work is undertaken unless there is an appropriate Contract / Statement(s) / Scope of Work in place for the (CLIENT) and that the conditions within these documents are fully understood by both (CLIENT) and (CLIENT) project team and sponsors
Manage project contract(s) to ensure profitability
Manage projects to ensure continuing adherence to business objectives
Planning / advising the (CLIENT) on the planning of projects including such activities as:
Breakdown the scope of work; Estimating the work; Planning and sequencing the work; Preparing project budgets.
Co-ordinate the detailed planning of any sub-project teams.
Obtaining (CLIENT) resources, structuring project team (s), “kicking off” projects and maintaining a high level of team morale and motivation.
Monitor progress of projects against the plan.
Impact analysis and management of project changes, risks, issues and dependencies.
Monitors and manages the risks on projects
Take corrective action to ensure that projects remain on track to meet targets, escalating issues that cannot be fixed within the Project Manager’s scope of control.
Ensure that all communication (internal and external) from a project is undertaken. This will include:
Regular project (and/or sub-project) team review meetings.
Regular project reporting to the (CLIENT) and (CLIENT) management as required including: project progress reports; risks and issues; budget and time spent, etc.
Regular communication and briefing is provided to teams;
Working with the (CLIENT) line manager of staff assigned to projects to enhance the individual’s skills and performance
Task management of the resources assigned including such activities as:
Setting individual objectives; Allocating tasks; Checking progress and quality.
Resource management of (CLIENT) staff assigned involving:-
Counseling and mentoring of staff assigned to a project(s); Performance appraisals
Management of Project morale
Intelligently utilize the (CLIENT) Toolkit, practices and approaches to the benefit of projects. Note that it may be necessary to adapt these based on the circumstances of projects and to work within the (CLIENT)’s own preferred practices and approach.
Carry out a lessons learned review on completion of each project phase and feed back to relevant sections or groups in (CLIENT), for further development of the (CLIENT) Toolkit
Identify and highlight opportunities for future revenue generation. Work with the (CLIENT), the (CLIENT) Account and (CLIENT) Service Managers to develop these opportunities.

Applicant must currently reside in Japan.
A sound knowledge of project management methodologies
Experience in a variety of ’hands on’ project management roles
Insurance business knowledge - awareness of the business implications when implementing a new business system
Successful background in leadership & people management (proven success in the development and motivation of staff)
Multi-site, multi-country, multi project experience advantageous
Application of a project management methodology
Project Management skills and techniques; Planning, organization, control (monitoring and adapting), team leading, Cost Benefit Analysis, Critical Path Analysis, Risk Analysis, progress reporting etc.
Good all-round IT understanding, including Unix, web, network and PC platforms. General understanding of hardware, software, operating systems and the strategic issues facing companies with respect to IT planning
Strong people management, able to organize/motivate both (CLIENT) and (CLIENT) team members
Experience in "multi-streaming " - parallel projects/activities/issues
Fluent in Japanese and English
Desirable Experience:
Experience of managing change within a company going through growth and organizational change.
Familiarity with Quality Assurance methods, tools and techniques
